Rehberger Weg „Weil am Rhein“
Rehberger Weg „Weil am Rhein“
Near Basel, Switzerland, the Rehberger Weg is a trail that connects the Fondation Beyerler in Riehen with the Vitra Campus in Weil am Rhein. It links two countries and offers a unique experience in the midst of nature and art. The 24 sculptures—24 stops along the trail—were created by Germany artist Tobias Rehberger.
Designed for the public space, the sculptures are both public and private in their very nature. They attempt to meet the requirements of the community without losing sight of the needs of the individual—for example, with a park bench. Sculptures that are designed for public spaces also need to be made of durable, weather-resistant materials, satisfy strict safety requirements, and at the same time be so appealing that people actually want to experience them.
All of these factors had to be taken into consideration for the implementation, in particular because the application needed to be long-lasting and weather-resistant. For these reasons, we used two specially developed components that meet the artist’s requirements as well as the normative standards for road markings in public spaces.
