Europe’s largest film set is located in Siersdorf in North Rhine-Westphalia, a district of Aldenhoven in the Düren district. The solidly built original freeway with entrances and exits, deceleration and acceleration lanes, hard shoulders and emergency bays and a parking lot has been used as a film set for series such as “Alarm für Cobra 11”, “Auf Streife” and also for various commercials.
The two lanes, each with 2 lanes, are 1,000 meters long and separated from each other by an 81 cm high concrete guide wall. Including the generous turning loops at both ends, the total distance is 2,300 meters.
Our job was to renew all markings on the track according to the valid regulations. In addition to being used as a film set, the track is also used as a testing ground for vehicle technology or as a test track for realistic safety training.
