Conversion of a logistics megacentre in Berlin

With a storage area of over 120,000 square meters, the megacenter was to be replaced after more than 20 years with a completely new system. The new warehouse layout should significantly improve internal processes, shorten internal routes and make them safer and also make the movement of goods more efficient.

During the planning phase, we were able to support the client with our digital 3D mapping. In the run-up to the project, a digital twin including dimensions of the warehouse was created. This data was processed in our head office in Ibbenbüren and a marking plan was created. A marking plan was created. The digital 3D mapping enables us in advance of the actual to show clear and exact routes and storage areas in the run-up to the actual project, to measure and from this to determine a concrete project budget.

Durable markings

In total, more than 8,500 linear meters of old markings had to be removed or demarked.

The new warehouse markings as well as the footpaths and driveways were applied using a 2-component thin-film system based on modified epoxy resins. The marking was then sealed with a 2-component UV clearcoat. The durability of such a system, even under extreme loads, is approx. 8-12 years.

In logistics or cargo, carapax protects the usable areas of trailers, trucks, and transporters. In addition, our system also extends the service life of transport boxes, pallets, and other loading systems.



carapax offers not only protective coatings but also coatings for thermal and sound insulation. This MID system is used for thermal insulation in roof trusses, facades, or floors in housing construction. The space to be insulated is filled in a dimensionally stable, complete, and gapless manner. This minimizes heat loss and damaging condensation is completely prevented.

In addition to thermal insulation, the system also meets all requirements for the properties of an excellent sound insulation because the stability and flexibility of the material remains throughout the entire service life.

carapax also meets the requirements for fire safety protection of Class E, is mold and mildew resistant, and has better insulation values than commercial insulation.
